There will be a second reading and public hearing on the following ordinance on September 27, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Beckley City Hall. This ordinance will be available for review at Beckley City Hall, 409 South Kanawha Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. AN ORDINANCE RENAMING “A” STREET TO MEL HANCOCK WAY WHEREAS; Chapter 14, Article III, Traffic Control Maps and File of the Code of the City of Beckley, provides the establishment of Traffic Control Maps; and WHEREAS; it is now deemed appropriate by the Common Council of the City of Beckley to amend the Traffic Control Map as specified in Section 14-300 of Article III and the Traffic Control File specified in Section 14-301 of Article III in the manner and form provided for in Section 14-302 to recognize the life and accomplishments of Mel Hancock by renaming “A” Street to Mel Hancock Way. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BECKLEY that the Traffic Control Maps – Other Than Parking – and the Traffic Control File of the City of Beckley be, and the same are, hereby amended to rename “A” Street to Mel Hancock Way and further, the erection of proper signs and markings giving notice thereof is hereby authorized.
